Before 2010, I had never picked up a paintbrush. I have a few friends that have started painting & I began to wonder if I could do it too. My husband bought me a beginners painting kit from Ebay and I just started to play around with it. Figuring out what kind of brushes I liked working with, how to blend the colors and what to do to get the painting to look like I wanted. I messed up a lot of canvas. But, slowly, I felt more comfortable.
I wanted to paint a picture of our hedgehog, Zoey, curled up in a ball. All you could see was her nose, a few fingers & lots of sharp quills! I really liked how it turned out and decided to share a picture of it with my fellow hedgehog lovers at Hedgehog Central. Everyone was so nice, positive and encouraging.
Then, I was asked to paint Phineas & Naomi. I was shocked! I don't know how to paint! But she assured me she would love whatever I did.
That's how it all started. I'm learning as I go. I've learned something from each hedgie (and horse, cat, dog, bird, hairless rat and bat!!) I've painted. I feel very honored to be the one to paint someone's beloved pet.
